Severely downgraded paper products line with Wegmans brand name and increased prices on those products.

Wegmans is an excellent store and has always been highly regarded for their brand name paper products including toilet tissue and paper towels. I hope that Wegmans is not taking advantage of last year's pandemic caused paper shortage by changing to an inferior product and charging higher prices. Our local Wegmans has not returned to providing their good toilet tissue and paper towels in large quantity packages and has upped the price considerably on the new inferior product being sold. What are your future plans on this issue? Surely I am not the first person to complain about the change.

Wegmans takes advantage during Covid Flu

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Wegmans prices have gone up so high during this Covid Epidemic. I can understand them going up a little, but now it is outrageous! Their scrawny rotisserie chicken has gone up $1.00 in 8 months and they charge 30% on all items if you have home delivery, which is not even run by them, they use insta cart. Aldi's uses Insta Cart, and they do not charge extra. I just spent a huge amount of money ($130.00) and didn't buy any meat, mostly paper stuff. I'm going to Aldi's and Tops which are just as close from now on! Wegman family you ought to be ashamed of yourselves!

I had a script filled at wegmans on my read blvd When I got home I noticed some of the pills had fallen out of the bottle and were loose in the ziplock bag. After counting then I realized many were missing. The pharmacy tech Nvr zip the bag closed. I called and talked to a night manger then the next day a pharmacist who was going to see if she could see it on the camera and call me back. After a follow up call and now 12 days no returned call. How easy this would have been avoided if they actually have you a bag for your scripts. Second major disappointment in service at wegmans in less then a month. Walgreens gets my business from now on.

i went to the wegmans on rt 57 in liverpool ny and bought some groceries and went threw the self check out lane, i rung up my groceries and slid my ebt card threw and it said approved which means the payment was recieved . now it said that i owed .15 for 3 bags.

i went to pay for the bags and the guy that was watching over the self check out told me the machines dont take change. so i said ok, he then said he would print me out a reciept to bring to the service desk to pay for the 3 paper bags. well i got to the service desk and the workers behind the desk argued with me that i had to repay for my groceries which i had already paid for, the only thing i owed was .15 for the bags. needless to say your workers behind the counter double charged me for my groceries and didnt want to know nothing.

due to the issues with your workers there and double charging me for groceries, i will never shop in your unhonest disrespectfull store again.

you have lost my buisness for good. your company is a total rip off and disgrace.

Dear Mr./Ms. Pist and Agrivated, We want you to know that we at Wegmans value your patronage and are concerned about what happened.

We were so concerned that we studied the video cameras of your visit. We liked the hat you wore that day but that's neither here nor there. After watching the tape repeatedly (it was quite amusing) we have determined that we will refund you the price of the three bags. As to your insistence that you were double charged we suggest you call your ebt card carrier for a reversal.

Thus, we will forward you a check for .15 with an additional .35 for your inconvenience. Let us know when you receive the check for .50 and come visit us again. Thank you for your input and your continued patronage! P.S.

Check out our recipe for the delicious Guacamole/Guava paste dip! You will be in love with it!

Self checkout

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Today I tried using your self checkout registers at the Montvale store and it was a horrendous experience. After scanning my items I tried using the same debit card I use each week when I shop and pay through the regular checkout line. The system did not ask for my pin and despite the account having plenty of money, it would not accept the card. An employee trie to help; I used another debit card that had thousands of dollars available, but too did not work. Finally I used a credit card to get out of there and it worked! Why is this problem only at your store? I use self checkout at Stop NShop and Shoprite with no issues. I will never use your self checkout again!

Overcharged for tussle mussie

Wegmans - Overcharged for tussle mussie
I shopped at the wegmans on Latta Rd in Rochester NY this am. I bought a tussle mussie in the floral department. They are usually $12. Today on both tussle mussie tables the $12 was crossed out On the sign and they were reduced to $8. I was charged the full $12...did not realize it til I returned home. Can you put the $4 I overpaid on my shoppers card as a credit ? I don’t want to drive all the way back to the store as we have an essential travel only here. My shoppers card number is #438****. I shopped at 3177 Latta Rd. Rochester NY at 7:23am. I do have a copy of the receipt.

Still waiting for my refund. I guess I’ll never see it. The Covid19 will now become a big excuse for all you big businesses.

Adryana Mdv

We at Wegmans fully realize the anxiety and stress of being overcharged, even by a small amount ($4 to be exact). We are taking the proper steps to locate the employee who reduced the price of the product and failed to inform our staff in pricing.

This should not occur. It is highly inconvenient to our staff and our customers. Our staff has enough to do than to be embarrassed by the incompetence of their fellow workers.

Wegmans thanks you for your patronage and you can look forward to that credit! Keep in mind that we have a full service seafood department and are eager to share with you the latest seafood recipes.

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Wegmans uncured bacon. However, can we make a suggestion?

The fat that you cut off is actually quite sought after as a flavoring agent. After you cooked the bacon we suggest that you save the demulsified fat and store it in one of the mason jars that we sell in our home products section. Then, whenever you are making fried potatoes, brussel sprouts, etc...

adding a great flavor. Thank you again for your input and we appreciate your patronage.

Covid Racism

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
At the Wegmans in Lanham MD on June 30, 2020, a grocery clerk waived me away making an obscene gesture without saying anything and did not allow me to use his check out lane because I was asian. This same grocery clerk immediately started ringing up another customer. I complained to Wegmans management at that location and all they told me was that they talked to the clerk about the incident. I have no idea if he was even disciplined or corrected as Brandon P. one of the lower level managers there said he cannot control his employees' beliefs. It is extremely disturbing that Wegmans allows its grocery clerks to decide who they will and will not service due to their appearance.

Wegmans - Stay Away from the Pizza
I have no idea why Wegmans decided to change from the delicious 20" NY style pizza to the smaller, thicker, burnt crust, awful tasting new recipe but they have completely ruined their pizza. Wegmans pizza was something I bought once a week before the change. Now I wouldn't eat it if the pizza was free. I'm shopping at Wegmans much less as a result. Question about upcharge on shopping order.

I wrote and mailed a letter (copy below) over two weeks ago and haven't had a reply as of yet.

The last thing I expected from Wegmans was to have a letter mailed to the CEO completely ignored.

I'm still awaiting a reply.

Sincerely,

Marty Kastriner

Dear Ms. Wegman,

My wife and I have been regular shoppers at the Northborough, MA store since it's opening in the fall of 2011.

We have appreciated the high quality of your fresh produce, dairy and deli departments as well as the fantastic seafood and meat departments.

Your employees are obviously well trained because it shows in the attentiveness to the customers' needs.

I am writing to you at this time because of a problem we've encountered with shopping during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Your stores like so many others have teamed up with InstaCart and together you are providing a valuable service.

Unfortunately, you've found it necessary to attach a surcharge to every item in our shopping order.

If this were an industrywide practice I would be annoyed but would accept it as a cost of doing business under these conditions.

Unfortunately, Wegmans is the only supermarket chain that adds a charge to each item on my shopping list.

I have subsequently shopped at Price chopper on 2 occasions, and BJs both of which use InstaCart as well for delivery service, and neither of these supermarket chains charges one cent extra.

As a matter of fact, they make sure to apply a sale price to an item when it's on sale.

Another store in my neighborhood Stop and Shop delivers through their own delivery service (PeaPod) and again there is no upcharge.

I spoke with a friend in Houston, TX who shops at Kroger and again there were no extra charges for the foods ordered but only a normal delivery charge.

When I emailed the Northborough store I received a preprinted reply which to me indicated I was not the only one to complain about these upcharges.

I wrote back and have not received any additional reply. This is not a good sign so I'm writing to you at this time in the hope that you will reconsider your policy about surcharges.

I live in a 55+ community of exactly 100 homes and feel it's only right to bring this to my friend's and neighbor's attention. We are food shoppers and don't appreciate what I believe to be corporate greed.

Attached is a copy of the email I sent to the Northborough Wegmans store earlier in May.

A reply would be appreciated.

Respectfully,

Marty & Rita Kastriner

My email to Northborough, MA Wegmans:

The actual charges for food as specified on the Wegmans register receipt was $178.94 so I satisfy the order minimum of $35.00.

The fee charged by InstaCart was a total of $25.24 broken down as follows:

$ 3.99...Delivery Fee

$10.42...Service Fee

$10.42...Tip

$00.41...Tax

$25.24...Total charges to InstaCart

The addition of Wegmans food charge of $178.94 + InstaCarts $25.24 equals a total of $204.18

My credit card was charged $233.62 which is an unknown difference of $29.44.

This $29.44 is either an incorrect overcharge and should be refunded or it's an upcharge from Wegmans.

I've subsequently shopped at BJs, Price Chopper (twice), and Stop & Shop ALL with any gouging upcharges.

I spoke with a friend in Texas who shops at Krogers and they weren't charged anything beyond the regular food charge and delivery.

Will Wegmans refund the overcharge and keep me as a happy and satisfied customer which I've been since you've opened the Northborough MA store in the fall of 2011 or will you lose me and my friends and neighbors as good customers?

Respectfully

Rita and Marty Kastriner

Mr. Kastriner, thank you for contacting us.

We apologize for the delay after you wrote to our CEO but with this covid crisis we have been compromised in out ability to reach out in a timely manner. Anyway, the surcharge you see on your order is actually another incident of what we like to call in the business of a 'covid malady'. Oh, can we call you Marty? Unfortunately, the surcharge is a result of the strict covid rules that your state of Massachusetts has imposed upon us.

With the stringent cleaning and disinfecting that our stores gladly adhere to it has imposed a financial burden upon our facilities. And, unfortunately, in the State of Massachusetts there is no business relief package set up therefore we are forced to pass it on to you, our customer. We are sorry for the inconvenience but we are VERY confident that with the election of President Biden that many of these covid related charges will go away and we can continue to do business as we have in the past. Marty, hang in there and we appreciate your feedback.

Stick with us and we will make it up to you with our vast selection of products and free recipes that we offer. P.S.

Check out this month's magazine and try the new Jello/Popcorn/Turkey treat recipe for your Thanksgiving table. Your guests will love it via your Skype Thanksgiving meal (remember, social distancing!).

Shame on you Wegmans. You continue to allow people in your Canandaigua store without masks. I complained to corporate back in June and still have not received a reply. You appear to not care about the risk to your employees and most of your customers. Make those unwilling to comply do curbside only. Why should the majority suffer. Disappointed former customer and former employee.

People Not Wearing Mask - Wegmans-Wilkes-Barre

Shopping with my wife in the Wegmans -Wilkes-Barre,Pa. A young couple walking down a food isle together, with masks. Talked to a gent that worked for Wegmans at the rear of the store. He was holding masks and I explained the couple. He said where are they now, and I'll track them down, and they would not take masks. I think that everyone in a shopping environment with other people should be wearing a mask. My wife saw them in the front of the store and they refused to mask up. Since Walmart, Costco, and Kroger enforced today, in all their stores, no mask no service. That's the way it should be. It's not fair to other shopper to be exposed to no mask shoppers. If you don't wear a mask stay home, if you have a medical problem stay home.Plus your exposing your help-and customers to possible covid-19. I called the corporate office a Wegmans and a young lady answered. I did not get too far. We are doing the best we can. Please do the right thing Wegmans-Make masks wearing mandatory-no Mask no Service.
